OLYMPIA – Wen Eckelberg, a student at South Shore School in Rainier Beach, served as a page this week in the Washington State House of Representatives. Sponsored by state Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos (D-Seattle), Wen is the daughter of Connie So and Brett Eckelberg of Seattle.

Wen is a member of the Organization of Chinese Americans. She speaks Cantonese and is studying Mandarin. She is an honors math student and enjoys playing several sports.

Pages perform a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills, and participate in mock committee hearings.
