South Seattle 5th Graders Face-Off in Annual Chess Tournament

About 170 fifth-graders recently competed in a chess tournament organized by Seattle Police Detective “Cookie” Bouldin. The students from Van Asselt and South Shore PreK-8 learned to play the game as part of the anti-violence curriculum Bouldin teaches in their classes. “Chess is the cool thing now,” says Bouldin.
